The company UNIS was established in May 1990 as an exclusively Czech private company without any foreign capital participation. The company UNIS became a joint stock company in 2008 and consequently there was adjusted the structure of the company UNIS, a.s., which currently falls within the parent company UNIS Capital, a.s. owning 100% of shares of the company UNIS, a.s. The company UNIS remains to be a purely Czech company with non-fragmented capital structure. For 30 years in the market, it became a stable and serious brand.
As from the beginning, the focal point of the company activities included process control and field of instrumentation and control (I&C) which in 1995 extended in offer of electrical part solution offers (feeding and distribution systems). In the same year, UNIS, as one of the first Czech company, received Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance certification, in accordance with the ISO 9001:94. In following years has successfully been carried out recertification audits of subsequent revisions of the standards to the current ISO9001. Since 2008 UNIS is certificated in accordance with the ISO/IEC 27 001 Information Security Management System and ISO/IEC 20 000-1 - Service management system requirements in IT.
As from the beginning of its existence, the company presented as a design, engineering and supplier company. Obtaining of the first order for complex engineering for higher investment unit (EPC-M) in 1998 aimed the company UNIS more towards technological process specialisation to activities with higher benefit. Later, the intention leads to establishment of subsidiary company УНИС НЕФТЕПРОЕКТ in the territory of Byelorussia, arranging support of engineering and design activities in Byelorussia and all the Russian – speaking territories. A majority of activities in the field of technologies control aims at large capital equipment in petrochemical and chemical industry and in power industry, which initiated establishment of a mechanical – technological section in 2012. Workload of this section was modelling 3D and check of important technological operations. In 2015, it was divided into the sections process engineering, mechanical construction and piping design works.
In 1999, the research and development section Mechatronic Systems was established within the company, as since 2013 it is called Aerospace and Advanced Control Division. The division arranges complete development cycle of the product from the initial analysis of technical settings with a proposal of solution, through development of software, hardware and design of mechanical parts, up to manufacture of prototypes, testing according to required standards and small-series manufacture.
In 2002, the company extended in implementation of manufacturing information systems MES (Manufacturing Execution System) and our own product was developed – the manufacturing information system PHARIS®. Originally, the system was developed for pharmaceutical industry, but after market research and additional development of functionalities, there was developed a product able to solve complex manufacture control even in discrete production, like metal processing and plastic pressing. Its modules cover the whole production process from order planning via partially processed production monitoring and up to its assessment.
UNIS co-operates with universities on development of new technologies and we participate in European projects. One of the results of the co-operation is the joint venture company Invea-tech, established in 2007, now divided into the companies FlowMon Networks, a.s. and Netcope Technologies, a.s. Both of the companies continue in solution of monitoring and safety of computer networks with specialisation in IP flow monitoring, behavioural network analysis, hardware accelerated applications and protection against cyber attacks and cyber criminality. These and other activities are further developed with the aim to reach the leading position among users of new technologies as well as to participate in their development.
In September 2015 there was dedicated the building of the Scientific and Technical Park VTP. The Scientific and Technical Park provides services to starting scientific and technical companies and it works as a business incubator for development of technologies and for easier putting into practice. Within the scope of the VTP, the company UNIS offers modern testing laboratories for performance of tests of electromagnetic compatibility, tests of mechanic and climatic resistance and tests of accelerated testing methods with the aim of reaching a higher reliability of a product according to international standards. The VTP construction was performed within the scope of the Operation Program of Business and Innovations (OPPI). The subvention provider was the European Fund for Regional Development and Ministry of Industry and Trade of the CR.
To provide more comprehensive services in the energy sector, the UNIS Group expanded in 2017 to include the former Bilfinger Babcock CZ, s.r.o. This created a major supplier in the energy industry operating under the name UNIS Power, s.r.o.
