UNIT FOR REMOVING MERCAPTANS FROM LIQUEFIED GASES OF DCU (MEROX)

There is one important point in the technological chain for the production of refinery coke (DCU), which will provide the Naftan refinery in Novopolotsk with the production of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). It is a unit for purification of liquefied hydrocarbon gases DCU from mercaptans (active sulfur compounds) MEROX. In a liquefied hydrocarbon gas, the mercaptan compounds are methyl and ethyl mercaptan (CH3SH and C2H5SH). Because mercaptans are highly corrosive compounds, they must be removed from the process or converted to other organic compounds.

During the implementation of the project, UNIS, a.s. provided comprehensive engineering research, processed project documentation (architectural and construction project), including obtaining the consent of the state expertise. It also supplied all the necessary equipment and materials and also provided chief assembly and author supervision services during construction and commissioning.

The "Merox" unit is currently undergoing a comprehensive testing phase with a replacement medium. In cooperation with the employees of the end customer, the launch for the guaranteed performance of the design capacity of the unit, which is 19.61 m3 / h (96 thousand tons per year) of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as the main product of this unit, is being prepared.

The final commissioning of the Merox unit is scheduled for the end of 2021.
