Dear business partners,

We would like to inform you about the success of UNIS, a.s. in the tender for the investment project Cold Bitumen for the Litvínov refinery of ORLEN Unipetrol RPA s.r.o.

The Litvínov refinery produces Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) with 3.5% sulphur content in winter due to the lack of demand on the bitumen market. IMO regulations require the use of HFO with a sulphur content of 0.5% or less. The objective of this strategic project is the complete elimination of HFO production and the continuous production of valuable bitumen during the off-peak season of bitumen production with high storage flexibility.

In 2022, we prepared BDEP documentation along with documentation for a construction permit. We will now be preparing full detail design documentation in all professions.

The project also focuses on the supply and installation of a Cooling and Packing Unit (CPU) and a Bitumen Melting Unit (BMU) for cooling and filling bitumen into special high-capacity bags. The filling capacity reaches 20 tons /h of two types of 50/70 or 70/100 road bitumen.

The contract includes the manufacture and supply of pressure apparatus, reconstruction of bitumen storage tanks, pumping stations, new electrical substation, installation of electrical, I&C, addition of control system, HVS and associated construction of large capacity storage areas, service roads including lighting, dispensing points and associated installation by all professions. Commissioning and trial operation will follow completion of the installation works.

The project is supported by the Austrian company Pörner (Licensor).
The project is expected to be completed in 2025.
